CBSE Schools will go Cashless from Jan 2017Now you don’t have to stand in long ques of banks for depositing the fees of your scholars as Central Board Of Secondary Education/CBSE Schools will go Cashless from Jan 2017 and are going to accept the fee via digital modes. A letter was issued by Board Secretary Joseph Emmanuel to the principals of CBSE schools in which there was mentioned “With a view to minimize cash transactions at schools, all CBSE-affiliated schools shall introduce online fee collection or through non-cash mode from the next quarter commencing from January 2017.”

The letter does not directly mention that this step is in line with demonetization but it is quite obvious that it is effect of demonetization. In the letter Board also highlighted pros of digital money. It states “The benefits of cashless transactions are enormous and the CBSE has introduced e-payment facilities for collection of fee for examination, affiliation and various activities including payments to its examination functionaries. The board has also been directing its affiliated schools to disburse salary to staff through bank transfers.”

The board also mentions to go cashless for availing various services, procurement, wages to daily based workers and other financial transactions. Many schools were on the path to start cashless transactions but were waiting for the right time, but after the notice of CBSE mostly all of the institutions have welcomed this step of CBSE which will lead India ahead on its mission of making India digital.

  • “Since demonetization came into effect, my parents are facing difficulty in paying my school fees. The decision of CBSE will ease our problem.”
  • “It is a very good step as it will be more convenient for the parents to get their admission fees deposited as cash crunch is already prevailing,”
  • “ This step taken by CBSE is really going to helpful in saving time as the procedure of depositing money through banks was time consuming”

The board has suggested that the schools may arrange a parent teacher meeting and start organizing various workshops campaigns and seminars about the benefits of cashless transactions in the day to day life which will prompt students and children both to accept this digital means.
